International Disaster Response Laws, Rules and Principles Asia-Pacific Coordinator

Position information
The IFRC International Disaster Response Laws, Rules and Principles (IDRL) Program aims to reduce the vulnerability of people affected by disaster by raising awareness of the need for legal preparedness for disasters and offering advocacy, technical assistance, training and research services.
Seconded to the International Federation of Red Cross / Red Crescent Societies Asia-Pacific Zone Office in Kuala Lumpur, the IDRL Coordinator's role will involve:
- advocating for legal preparedness through the development of partnerships with key organizations such as the UN, regional governments, NGOs and academic institutions
- building the capacity of regional Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies to address the legal aspects of disaster response
- developing and implementing the IDRL Strategic Plan
Position requirements
To be the successful candidate you will need:
- a legal qualification and a relevant postgraduate study background
- significant relevant legal experience
- demonstrated ability in legal and academic research
- experience in an international context
