Indonesia has been placed with a level 3 warning for Mount Karangetang. The mountain, found in the region of Sitaro in North Sulawesi, has had an increase in volcanic activity recently, which has lead to the call being deemed necessary.
Although the government has said there has been no exact expulsion of volcanic material, the level of seismic activity has increased majorly, says East Indonesia Volcano Observatory and Investigation Sub-agency chief Kritianto.
"The seismic activity has been increasing since August 4, but there has been no volcanic material at all," Kritianto said, as reported by tempointeraktif.com.
The issue comes on the heels of the March eruption, which saw lava flow down the mountain into the Sitaro villages. A church, bridge and two buildings were destroyed by the flow, and this issue is one of urgent preparation.
