UN Report No.8 on Somalia Famine

Highlights of the report include:
• A considerable increase in aid has been delivered in Mogadishu, despite continued skirmishes
• The emergency revision of the Somalia Consolidated Appeal has been completed; US$1.06 billion is being requested, of which $500 million has been received
• The Transitional Federal Government has established a disaster management agency to coordinate the provision of humanitarian assistance
