UAE relief efforts totalized US $29.2 million

 United Arab Emirates donors have contributed for US $29.2 million in relief efforts in East Africa, Libya, Pakistan and Turkey this year. According to the UAE Office for the Coordination of Foreign Aid (OCFA), these funds where directed towards tackling the food crisis in the Horn of Africa and cooperating for the emergency in Libya, the floods in Pakistan and the earthquake in Turkey.

Among UAE donors organizations' activities, the Emirates World Humanitarian Mobile Hospital has treated 20,000 patients residing in camps in the Horn of Africa, while medical teams have trained African medical staff. Two charitable organizations, The Sharjah Charity Association and Al Rayyan charity, have cooperated to assist 5,000 Somalian families with US $16,000 in food supplies. Water wells and basins in different towns in Somalia are also currently being built by The Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Humanitarian Foundation, as reported by the organization.
