European Commission guidelines

At a conference held in July, the European Commission has circulated a consultation paper with guidelines as to NPO transparency and accountability.

The Humanitarian Forum supports initiatives to increase NPO accountability and transparency, as this was one of our main reasons of existence. However, accountability must support development and humanitarian effectiveness. There is a danger that restrictive rules will undermine this.

This is particularly important in Ramadan.
