Humanitarian Emergencies 2010
The Humanitarian Forum is committed to enabling civil society to respond quickly and efficiently to humanitarian emergencies wherever they occur. In addition to our work in our pilot countries, we're developing ways to use new partnerships to improve the situation for civilians in areas such as Somalia and Gaza. In particular:
- Improving communication and cooperation;
- Improving transparency and accountability;
- Promoting humanitarian principles and standards.
Gaza
The Forum convened a workshop in Doha in February 2009, to discuss the needs of the sector. This was followed up with a workshop with The Palestinian Non Governmental Organisations Union (PNGO-Union) to stimulate and assist reconstruction in the Gaza strip. We're now focussing on alternative ways to communicate with local Palestinian NGOs and to bring them into the global discussion. More details...
