Food and Sanitation

The Belet-Hawa district of the Somalian Gedo Region has been hit by a catastrophic drought and food has become extremely scarce. The people in the rural areas and small villages have been the most affected, as their livelihoods depend on livestock and due to the drought, most of the herds have perished. The Safety Foundation for Development has distributed 3,450 sacks of maize and beans and 1,245 bottles of cooking oil (20 litres each) to help the struggling villagers cope.

Education

The Regumo School Centre from Nyanza, Western Kenya, is supported by Safety Foundation for Development. With the help of this scheme, deprived children in the area get access to free basic education. Safety Foundation pays for the salaries of the seven teachers employed at the centre.
