Super Humanitarianism
Meet H
H began as a humanitarian worker and gained his superpowers when
another Super Humanitarian gave him The Magic Kit. From then onwards, H
made it his mission in life to help others.
H doesn’t work alone. H believes in working together for the benefit of
local communities around the world. Because everyone can become Super
Humanitarian, H shares his Magic Kit. All those in possession of The
Magic Kit become Super Humanitarians and can in turn share it with
others.
This way, communities of Super Humanitarians are able to become more disaster resilient and fight their way through earthquakes, tsunamis and drought.
What is a Super Humanitarian?
A Super Humanitarian can be a humanitarian worker, a community leader or simply a person on the street. A Super Humanitarian can be 5 years old or 105 years old and all the ages in between. A Super Humanitarian can be a man or a woman. Whether working at a desk, or digging a well, the Super Humanitarians are easy to spot. They are the ones who acknowledge the importance of good, solid partnerships and pooling of resources.
A Super Humanitarian can be an Indonesian humanitarian worker who trains school children and their teachers disaster preparedness techniques in case of an earthquake. A Super Humanitarian can also be the 5 year old child who, having listened to the disaster preparedness training, can pass on his knowledge (The Magic Kit) to his friends.
Anybody can become a Super Humanitarian, by being prepared to listen and learn from others and share their knowledge onwards and by forming strong working bonds with their community and other communities.
Why we need your support
Around the world, communities affected by disasters and unrest need our help. What you don’t know is that, usually, in the first 24-48 hours of a crisis, communities are left to fend for themselves until International Organisations and Agencies arrive. This leaves them vulnerable and lives can be lost in that short period of time.
Local community organisations will often be the first ones to offer shelter and food, straining their already meagre resources. In such situations, medical supplies are often scarce and general resources can be misallocated, efforts duplicated and the lack of general coordination could prevent those in need from getting aid.
We believe there is a need for more Super Humanitarians in this world – people from different countries, faiths and walks of life who can make a difference to their communities. By training local organisations how to manage emergency situations (Yemen), how to coordinate and cooperate (Libya) and how to stay safe in case of natural disasters (Indonesia), we help civil society shoulder the needs of its people.
We need your support to ensure there are more trained Super Humanitarians in the world and that these Super Humanitarians can in turn help those in need (food for refugees in Yemen) or even save lives (disaster risk reduction in Indonesia)
